at Motivaction i work as head of values research, responsible for the Mentality research program. Mentality is a segmentation model of the dutch society based on values in everyday lives. the model is used in communication, marketing, and policy by a wide range of customers; government agencies, broadcasting companies, retail banks, musea, ngo's, ...
often people are surprised by the tools and gadgets i carry with me. a friend nicknamed me "mister prepared" because of all the standard stuff in my backpack. these are some items that mr. prepared carries around by default.

i listen to music a lot; when on my way, at home, at work and at concerts. sources are bandcamp, spotify, soundcloud, my own digital collection on ipod classic and on a navidrome server, cd's, vinyl, live performances, sometimes radio. with my last name being metaal (dutch for metal) it's a nice coincidence (is it?) that my favorite genre is within metal; that is post-metal and several related sub-genres in metal.
